If I or one of the staff members steps away to the back for a moment, is there a chime or some kind of audio alert we can receive to notify us when a new order comes in? We’d like something more reliable than just the sound of the printer to indicate that an order needs to be fulfilled. Please let me know if there’s a way to enable this kind of alert.
Thanks for posting this question—it’s a great one and something that comes up from time to time.
Currently, OrderOut relies entirely on the connected POS system for any in-store alerts, including audio notifications or chimes when a new order is received. Since we integrate with a wide variety of POS systems across the restaurant industry, we do not have a standardized way to trigger audio or visual alerts independently. Our platform focuses on ensuring that delivery orders from platforms like Uber Eats, DoorDash, and Grubhub flow directly and reliably into your POS. However, the experience and functionality of how those orders are presented or alerted within your restaurant environment are handled by the POS itself.
If your POS does not have a setting to enable a sound notification, pop-up, or chime when an order comes in, then unfortunately we are unable to add that functionality from our side. Some POS systems do offer alert options, so we recommend reaching out to your POS provider or account representative to ask if such a feature is available.
We understand how important it is to be notified promptly—especially in busy kitchens where it’s easy to miss a printer sound or if staff need to step away briefly. While we don’t currently have a way to build audio alerts into our system, we’re always listening to merchant feedback and are exploring ways to better support operational workflows across different platforms.
